TRAQ Qualified · LTE #408 · Since 1993
Independent tree care for East Greenwich & Mickleton and the surrounding South Jersey towns. Climber-on-rope work, careful rigging, real assessments before any cut.
East Greenwich Township was incorporated in 1881, separated from Greenwich Township the same year. The 14.8 sq mi township is anchored by the Mickleton community — a historic crossroads settlement at the intersection of Kings Highway and the Mickleton-Kings Highway. Tree work spans Mickleton heritage canopy and the surrounding residential subdivisions plus working farmland. Before any saw comes out, we walk the tree. Thirty years here means we know the soil, the species, the storm patterns — and we use that to keep what should stay. Less invasive, more in harmony.
Colonial crossroads + farms + 1990s subdivisions.
Mickleton sits at a colonial-era crossroads (Kings Highway × Mickleton-Kings Highway). Heritage canopy in the historic settlement core dates to the late 1800s in some sections. Modern subdivisions surround the heritage core, creating mixed conditions across the 14.8 sq mi township.
Mickleton heritage + modern subdivisions + EAB.
Six services shaped for working agricultural land + rural-residential lots.

Is a tree in your East Greenwich yard yellowing, dropping leaves early, or showing bark damage? We diagnose the actual problem before treating anything. Around here we commonly see Emerald Ash Borer on ash trees, Bacterial Leaf Scorch on pin oaks, and soil compaction from past construction. We treat the cause. Call (856) 241-0489.
East Greenwich Township was carved out of Greenwich Township and Mantua Township in 1881. The township includes Mount Royal community and stretches along Kings Highway through Mickleton and the surrounding residential blocks. That mix of historic settlements and newer subdivisions means tree care ranges from heritage Pin Oaks on Kings Highway to the smaller plantings of recent developments. Six signs Paul looks for first.
Splits running up or down the main trunk indicate structural failure has begun.
Healthy trees shed bark slowly. Large patches falling away in a single season point to internal decline.
Mushroom conks at the base or running up the trunk are evidence of structural decay.
New leans, or worsening leans — especially after a storm — mean the root plate may be compromised.
Lightning-struck trees often show crown dieback within 12–18 months.
If your ash tree’s upper canopy is 30%+ thinned, the tree is past treatment threshold.

On time professional, respectful team that pays attention to detail. They cleaned up the job site better than when they found it. Very happy with the work performed and will use again. Highly recommend.

I first used Tree Awareness back in the 90’s to take out 2 overgrown trees at my property in West Deptford. Both very large, and very close to the house. I used them again about 10 years ago for the same reason at my current property. When we had a wet heavy snow a few weeks ago, a tree that hangs over my roof and still has dead leaves on it, was so weighed down it was touching the roof, and the tree itself was leaning pretty precariously Towards the house. When I saw today that we might be getting 11”-15” of heavy wet snow this weekend, I was in a panic. I called them, assuming that they were probably booked solid, and they were. After explaining my situation to the office manager, she said let me see what we can do. She responded quickly, and even though they were booked solid, she went out of her way to make it happen. She had a crew here within the hour. Mason and his crew were both very professional, and personable. They got the job done quickly, and perfectly. I can honestly say after using them, 3 times now, that they are not only the best at what they do, but very professional, and accommodating. They go above and beyond. Their pricing is more than reasonable for the level of knowledge, and skill they possess. I also like that they are very focused on the health of the trees on your property, and don’t look to talk you into cutting trees down that don’t necessarily need to come down. Instead, in this situation, they suggested trimming the over hanging limbs, and canopy back, to make it safe with this storm coming. They could have easily said “it needs to come down”, and charged me quite a bit more. I would recommend Tree Awareness to anybody who needs tree work done professionally, and at a reasonable price. You can’t go wrong with them. I can’t express my appreciation for easing my concerns, on such short notice the way they did. Thanks guys. Keep up the great work guys.

Three decades of South Jersey work means Paul has cared for working-farm canopy and rural-residential lots across Gloucester County. East Greenwich Township is part of that.
Tree Awareness, Inc. is owner-operated and TCIA-Accredited. We keep heritage and farmstead trees alive when the structure supports it, and remove decisively when it doesn’t.
From Mickleton to the surrounding subdivisions and farms, we cover every East Greenwich Township address. Rooted in science and restraint — thirty years of fieldwork, TRAQ qualification, ANSI A300 pruning. Every recommendation is what we’d say if it were our own property.
The old maples, oaks and sycamores that came up with these blocks. Pruning here is conservative — we keep the canopy that gives the street its character.
Heritage canopy. We’d rather leave a tree standing for another generation than take it because someone’s nervous about a single limb.
Less invasive, more in harmony — that’s the work, whether it’s a single backyard or a whole block.
The whole township, end to end. We don’t skip the harder-to-reach corners — that’s usually where the work is.
Ag-side trees that earn their keep. We prune for utility — shade for stock, wind cover, fence-line clearance.
1920s and 1930s plantings, mostly. The right call is usually less, not more — one structural cut that buys ten more years.
Real questions from real property owners in East Greenwich Township — about credentials, process, and the work we do.
Tree Awareness, Inc. operates under NJ Licensed Tree Expert #408 — held by Paul D. Biester since 1993.
Yes. Cabling and bracing extends the life of mature heritage trees. We use TRAQ-qualified risk assessment.
Tree Awareness, Inc. is TCIA-Accredited — more rigorous than BBB for tree service specifically.
Since 1993 — over 30 years. The differentiator is the credentials we hold and the owner-on-every-job model.
