Family-run tree service in Greenwich Township & Gibbstown. Thirty years on these streets — we’ve walked most of these trees more than once.
Greenwich Township was incorporated in 1798 (NOT to be confused with Greenwich Township in Cumberland County — this is the Gloucester County one). The 16.3 sq mi township is anchored by the Gibbstown community, which has long-running industrial heritage (the former DuPont/Repauno Chemical Works dating to 1880). Tree work spans industrial-heritage soil conditions and rural-residential farmland. We work this town the way we work the rest of South Jersey — the same yard behind every call, the same crew, the same standard. Less invasive, more in harmony.
140+ years of industry shape the soil profile.
The DuPont/Repauno Chemical Works at Gibbstown opened in late 1700s and operated for over a century. Soil conditions across the western Greenwich Township sections reflect that long industrial-heritage layer. Tree species selection and soil-decompaction work are diagnostic disciplines here.
Industrial-heritage soils + Delaware-edge + EAB.
Six services shaped for working agricultural land + rural-residential lots.

Is a tree in your Greenwich Township yard yellowing, dropping leaves early, or showing bark damage? We diagnose the actual problem before treating anything. Around here we commonly see Emerald Ash Borer on ash trees, Bacterial Leaf Scorch on pin oaks, and soil compaction from past construction. We treat the cause. Call (856) 241-0489.
Greenwich Township is one of New Jersey's original 104 townships, dating back to 1695. The Gibbstown CDP holds most of the residential population today, with a tree canopy spanning everything from heritage trees in older sections to mid-century suburban plantings. Delaware River frontage adds a riparian-edge layer to consider. Six signs Paul looks for first.
Splits running up or down the main trunk indicate structural failure has begun.
Healthy trees shed bark slowly. Large patches falling away in a single season point to internal decline.
Mushroom conks at the base or running up the trunk are evidence of structural decay.
New leans, or worsening leans — especially after a storm — mean the root plate may be compromised.
Lightning-struck trees often show crown dieback within 12–18 months.
If your ash tree’s upper canopy is 30%+ thinned, the tree is past treatment threshold.

Incredibly detailed and personalized service to understand and go beyond to provide satisfaction
— Ron Fijalkowski
True awareness was at our home yesterday for removal of five trees. The trees were right on our property line with a neighbors fence below and trees leaning towards our neighbors property. Paul and his crew expertly removed the trees without causing any damage to anything. Paul and his crew were very professional and workmen like and got the job done in one day. They have the equipment to do difficult jobs such as this one. I would not hesitate to use them again for any tree work required on my property and you should keep them in mind if you need them for your tree work needs.

Paul and Kevin are amazing. Paul came out right away and we walked the property to discuss what I wanted done. He took his time and really listened to what I was hoping to accomplish. He is very knowledgeable and understood what I wanted and made some great recommendations. I also really appreciated his honesty as he explained why some things that weren’t necessary or shouldn’t be done. He then offered other solutions which worked out great.. I appreciated his knowledge and understanding of my vision and what could be done to achieve it. The team has been out twice already to do the majority of the work and will be out one more time as there were quite a few trees that needed to come down and a lot of work on existing trees and bushes. They were prompt, courteous, and did a fabulous job of cleanup. Other than the trees that are gone, you wouldn’t know they were even here. That says something for their level of professionalism- I am looking forward to next year and the next phase of work on the property. Working with Kevin in the office has been great and Watching Paul and his team work has been nothing short of outstanding.

A family company, Tree Awareness does excellent, efficient, and environmentally conscious work. Paul Biester knows his field and what is best for your trees. He is honest and a straightforward communicator who values customer service as much as he values doing the right thing for each specific tree job.

Three decades of South Jersey work means Paul has cared for working-farm canopy and rural-residential lots across Gloucester County. Greenwich Township is part of that.
Tree Awareness, Inc. is owner-operated and TCIA-Accredited. We keep heritage and farmstead trees alive when the structure supports it, and remove decisively when it doesn’t.
From Gibbstown to the inland farms and the Delaware River edge, we cover every Greenwich Township (Gloucester) address. Good stewards of the local forest — that’s how we’ve framed this work for thirty years. Less invasive, more in harmony.
We work this section the way we work the rest of town — careful assessment first, then the right call for the tree.
Heritage canopy. We’d rather leave a tree standing for another generation than take it because someone’s nervous about a single limb.
Every street and every back lot. Same crew, same care, whether you’re a half-mile or five from the center of town.
Ag-side trees that earn their keep. We prune for utility — shade for stock, wind cover, fence-line clearance.
Floodplain trees move differently than upland ones. We plan rigging with the soft soil in mind.
Mature street trees on this stretch. We know the species, the soil, and the storm patterns from working these blocks for years.
Real questions from real property owners in Greenwich Township — about credentials, process, and the work we do.
Tree Awareness, Inc. operates under NJ Licensed Tree Expert #408 — held by Paul D. Biester since 1993.
Yes. Cabling and bracing extends the life of mature heritage trees. We use TRAQ-qualified risk assessment.
Tree Awareness, Inc. is TCIA-Accredited — more rigorous than BBB for tree service specifically.
Since 1993 — over 30 years. The differentiator is the credentials we hold and the owner-on-every-job model.
