TRAQ Qualified · LTE #408 · Since 1993
Tree care across Pennsville Township — the Delaware Memorial Bridge approach corridor, the historic Fort Mott State Park area, and the residential subdivisions in between. Paul walks every site himself. NJ LTE #408, TRAQ Qualified, 30 years on these soils.
Pennsville Township was formally incorporated in 1965 (renamed from Lower Penns Neck). The 24.6 sq mi township sits on the Delaware River at the Delaware Memorial Bridge approach — one of the busiest highway crossings in the eastern United States. The township combines this corridor exposure with the historic Fort Mott State Park area (a 19th-century coastal defense fortification) and significant residential subdivisions. Tree work spans corridor exposure, fort-area heritage canopy, and residential blocks. Before a saw ever comes out, we read the tree — thirty years of fieldwork, TRAQ qualification, ANSI A300 pruning, all rooted in science and restraint. Less invasive, more in harmony.

Trees within 100 yards of the Delaware Memorial Bridge approach face traffic-corridor stress — salt-spray, exhaust, root compaction.
Heritage canopy in the Fort Mott State Park area needs preservation-grade work.
Properties on the Delaware River edge face salt influence and bridge-traffic exposure.
Field-edge ash here needs a treatment plan or removal timeline.
Pennsville Township has deep colonial history — Swedish settlement at Fort Christina dates to 1638, and John Fenwick established Fenwick's Colony in West Jersey in 1675. The township was originally formed in 1721 as Lower Penns Neck Township, incorporated in 1798, and renamed Pennsville in 1965. Fort Mott State Park sits within the township along the Delaware River. The Delaware Memorial Bridge (opened 1951) connects to Delaware. Six signs Paul looks for first.
Splits running up or down the main trunk indicate structural failure has begun.
Healthy trees shed bark slowly. Large patches falling away in a single season point to internal decline.
Mushroom conks at the base or running up the trunk are evidence of structural decay.
New leans, or worsening leans — especially after a storm — mean the root plate may be compromised.
Lightning-struck trees often show crown dieback within 12–18 months.
If your ash tree’s upper canopy is 30%+ thinned, the tree is past treatment threshold.

These guys know a lot more than just how to cut a tree down. This is a profession tree service. Always nice to deal with a hands on owner.

Tree Awareness recently performed tree removal services for us. We had a red maple and a hydrangea removed (both were beautiful but just too large for the space.) Tree Awareness kept us informed regarding the removal process and the timeline, and everyone I spoke with was very knowledgeable. They were also very cautious during the removal process so as not to cause any damage to neighbors' cars, etc- very important given that we live in a townhome and have neighbors immediately to each side. Overall a fantastic experience, and I would not hesitate to call them again for future needs.

Paul and his crew were fantastic all around – from the initial website contact form (where they called me the next day) to coming out for the estimate, to doing the work. Not only did they do exactly what we asked, but they exceeded expectations with the cleanup. I highly recommend Tree Awareness!

Outstanding service, on time and professional. The services live up to the business's name. I chose Tree Awareness for my tree care about 10 years ago based on their name and description of services. Many tree services have truck labeling that indicates tree removal as their primary service, whereas Tree Awareness is focused on preserving the appearance, function and health of trees in this era, which poses so many challenges to tree health. Employees are supported with training and supervision, and it pays off. Excellent customer communication results in satisfaction. Tree Awareness does not hesitate to recommend other companies that perform known, satisfactory services when some special treatment is indicated.

Paul and Kevin are amazing. Paul came out right away and we walked the property to discuss what I wanted done. He took his time and really listened to what I was hoping to accomplish. He is very knowledgeable and understood what I wanted and made some great recommendations. I also really appreciated his honesty as he explained why some things that weren’t necessary or shouldn’t be done. He then offered other solutions which worked out great.. I appreciated his knowledge and understanding of my vision and what could be done to achieve it. The team has been out twice already to do the majority of the work and will be out one more time as there were quite a few trees that needed to come down and a lot of work on existing trees and bushes. They were prompt, courteous, and did a fabulous job of cleanup. Other than the trees that are gone, you wouldn’t know they were even here. That says something for their level of professionalism- I am looking forward to next year and the next phase of work on the property. Working with Kevin in the office has been great and Watching Paul and his team work has been nothing short of outstanding.

The three individuals, who were on site from Tree Awareness ,were excellent! They listened well, were very thoughtful during the process on how to proceed and acted safely. They also did a good job of cleaning up. The end result looks great! We would highly recommend them. Well done! Thanks, Bruce and Trish

Three decades of South Jersey work means Paul has cared for Quaker-heritage farmsteads, Delaware-edge industrial-heritage canopy, and rural-residential lots across the Salem-area belt.
Tree Awareness, Inc. is owner-operated and TCIA-Accredited. We keep heritage trees alive when the structure supports it, and remove decisively when it doesn’t.
From the Memorial Bridge approach to Fort Mott State Park to the residential subdivisions, we cover every Pennsville Township address. Same yard, same crew, same standard — the way we’ve worked these communities for thirty years. Less invasive, more in harmony.
Same standard here as everywhere else: understand the tree, keep what should stay, and when removal is the right call, do it well.
We work this section the way we work the rest of town — careful assessment first, then the right call for the tree.
We work this section the way we work the rest of town — careful assessment first, then the right call for the tree.
Every street and every back lot. Same crew, same care, whether you’re a half-mile or five from the center of town.
Waterfront canopy — willows, sycamores, river birch. The wind catches different on the water side; we account for it.
Frontage and median trees along the corridor. Salt spray, wind shear, and sight-line clearance shape what we do here.
Real questions from real property owners in Pennsville Township — about credentials, process, and the work we do.
NJ Licensed Tree Expert #408 — held by Paul D. Biester since 1993. Most NJ tree services display a single license number. We hold the credentials triad — NJ LTE #408 + TCIA Accreditation + CTSP — with explicit verification.
Yes. Cabling and bracing extends the life of mature heritage trees. We use TRAQ-qualified risk assessment.
Tree Awareness, Inc. is TCIA-Accredited — more rigorous than BBB for tree service specifically.
Since 1993 — over 30 years. The differentiator is the credentials we hold and the owner-on-every-job model.
Yes. Trees within 100 yards of the Delaware Memorial Bridge approach face traffic-corridor stress — salt-spray, exhaust, root compaction. We diagnose corridor-stress decline (often misread as disease), recommend conservative interventions, and coordinate with NJDOT setback requirements where applicable.
Heritage tree care first. Properties bordering Fort Mott State Park — the 19th-century coastal defense fortification — carry mature canopy that pre-dates many modern utility installations. Cabling, root-collar excavation, lightning protection, and conservative pruning before considering removal.
Yes. We provide written arborist reports for CAFRA (Coastal Area Facility Review Act) compliance, riparian-zone reviews, and waterfront tree assessments along the Delaware River shoreline. Reports accepted by NJDEP and Pennsville Township land-use boards.
